July 10, 2018— Presentations are invited for the 2019 Michael E. Beard Conference: Asbestos and Fibrous Minerals Analysis and Research, April 4-5, 2019, at the Sheraton Denver Downton Hotel, Colorado, USA. ASTM International’s committee on air quality (D22) is sponsoring the conference, which will be held in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee.
The conference will be divided into four sessions:
- Asbestos Definitions and Terminology: Toward an Accurate, Relevant, and Cohesive Understanding,
- Natural Occurrences of Asbestos, Erionite, Taconite, and Other Elongate Mineral Particles of Health Concern: Sampling and Analytical Challenges,
- The New Paradigm of Asbestos Analysis: Asbestos Commercial Analytical Issues and Asbestos Research Analytical Issues, and
- Advancing the Quality and Efficiency of Laboratory Asbestos/Mineral Analysis: Training, Equipment, Information Management, and Techniques
Each presentation slot allows for 15 minutes of presentation with five minutes for discussion. Interested parties should submit a short abstract to Owen Crankshaw (see below) by August 15, 2018, for consideration.
